Mirror of Outkast  Oct 2, 2005
These guys are very good, even though they are a christian group. From my experience alot of christian groups just don't cut it when it comes to producing hardline music, but Grits are a different story. If you like Outkast you would definatly like Grits. Check out Cross Movement, KJ-52, and John Reuben as well if you like Grits but these guys are very good.
Not biblically sound....but its still a good album  Jul 23, 2005
I listened to whole album. there were a few tracks that were ok...but for some reason this did not strike me as a chrisitan hip hop album . It was more positive hip hop than Christian. They did reference a few scriptures but that was about it. "Slow down hold up, i want you to be mine, we can hook up and get married" ummmmm sounds like a pick up line..rather than a good standing christian man approaching a christian woman.

If I wasnt firm i nthe wood, then i would not have picked up and understand what they were trying to say versus Crossmovement and Christcentric, you don't have to decode their rhymes in order to find out if they are talking about Christ. It is in your face. That is what saves..not entertains!

take care folks

This is a must if u luv Outkast  Jan 31, 2005
Like to say I luv they work they did which is spiritual and more fun to listen. Can't say enuff 'bout it but anyway this CD rocks if u luv a taste of Grits like u luv Outkast. I recommend this who wants to feel any difference to it more they do with mainstream hip-hop. A must-have. Grits keep it up and God bless.
GREAT CD  Dec 24, 2004
"Art of Translation" is a great CD. If you like hip hop/rap, you will enjoy this CD. They have some of the best rhymes in Christian rap, or mainstream rap, for that matter. My favorite songs are, "Make Room", "Get It", "Believe", "Tennessee Bwoys", "Runnin'", "Ooh Aah", and "Here We Go". Also check out "Dichotomy a" and "Grammatical Revolution".
Uhhh  Jul 16, 2004
"Here We Go". I love this album, well, most of it. Grits does a 360 on every album and obviously this one's no different. I first heard Grits' on their song "Cataclysmic Circles" and knew these dudes were tight. That was from their first release, "Mental Releases". That song was/still is very cool and was very laid back. The flows sped up on pretty much every song on this cd. Grits really gave me a pleasant surprise on this cd except for the lackluster, mainstream beats that plague the second half of the cd (except for the Pettidee-produced "Lovechild").

Now, to respond to the person who said that "Bubba Spark" stole Eminem's style. Well, actually Bubba Sparxxx didn't. If you've ever listened to his songs he's not some emotional payload. His flow and attitude are very different from Eminem's, not to mention his subject matter. Bubba is much less personal and goes for punchlines mostly and cool moments. Listen to any of Em's songs and then listen to Bubba's "Ugly" and you'll see.

Anyways, God bless.
