Justin Lookadoo--a clueless moron  Dec 28, 2006
I don't even own this book, I read it at a walmart while shopping one day and it is so ridiculous I actually took pictures of some of the pages with my cellphone to laugh at with friends. This guy is so naive it's really quite funny. Don't buy this book, it is the most non-informational piece of trash I've seen on the subject of drugs out there. There are some really good informational books out there. Try Illegal Drugs by Paul M. Gahlinger PHD (search for it on this site) It's the best book I've seen out there on the subject.

Oh and if this is the author Justin Lookadoo reading this review: Don't worry, everyone has a talent. Maybe writing just isn't yours...Or maybe you should write about things you have knowledge or experience about. That might bring you bigger success.
falls flat on its face  Apr 16, 2005
This book falls flat on its face. First off, Lookadoo starts by saying that whether or not you do drugs or alcohol is your choice. The highlight of this book is its sections on Marijuana and tobacco. That's about it. There are sections on alcohol, Oxy, Ritalin, Cocaine, and a few other drugs. This is all preceded by a section on measuring your life: in fact its this section that starts this book on its winding road of dullness. Next there is a half-baked section on alcohol, wherin Lookadoo talks about how alcohol stunts your growth. His research is a little outdated, as researchers have begun to find that the brain doesn't stop development until around 24. The next lethal bit is something he doesn't talk about. Just about everyone between the ages of 12 and 25 drinks, the catch is that most of my friends and young family members have no clue what the alcohol content is in a hard lemonade versus what it would be in a vodka. It something that has lead to alcohol poisoning among high school students and college students. Most people just don't know. Because Lookadoo did not include this info in there, for those that choose to drink-I get the vibe he's of the crowd that doesn't drink, ever. I think that he should have included such info for those of us who have had alcohol since before 21. Other sections include such lackluster commentary, and important facts are left out. There was no space devoted to heroin or meth. Given that the top states with meth labs are located in the Bible Belt, I would have thought he would have said something about it. There was also little to no mention of all the street names of all the various drugs he talks about. The section on ecstasy was okay. Little to no info was delivered on prescription drug misuse. In the end, he talks about why people do drugs-this section came after a very long section on tobacco-and the ending also falls short. This book is very pathetic, I received more education in D.A.R.E., at least they know more about what they are talking about than Lookadoo does. This book reads as though it were penned by a very naïve person. Very uninformed, very clueless, and a person who should not be writing on the subject. I'd recommend it for preteens, that is about it. By the time a person is fifteen, their knowledge on this stuff surpasses that of this book.
