| I have never read any books by Mark, so I wasn't sure what to expect. I was so pleasantly surprised. I could not put the book down. In addition to being an excellent Christian book written from a biblical perspective, it gave an excellent overview of the Mayan civilization. Lately I've heard a lot of speculation concerning December 21, 2012. There are several books and at least one movie exploiting the fear. The movie sounds entertaining and I intend to see it however, I do not base my beliefs and fears on movies.
Mark Hitchcock offers readers a well researched look at the different 2012 theories. He spends the first half of his book exploring these so called theories. The last half of his book is a look at what the Bible has to say concerning end times. I found his book to be informative, concise, easy to read and interesting. He clearly states that no one knows when the end will come, except God and God is in control! My favorite part of this book is the exploration of the rapture, Antichrist and Armageddon. I plan to be part of the rapture. For those that are that concerned about the end times, I suggest you spend time with Jesus. This is an easy read. There is a decent width of information included in the history involving 2012 to today's perspectives.
"Lonnie D. Christian", one reviewer who made me a skeptic prior to purchasing the book disagrees with the author saying that nobody can predict the day or the hour. Lonnie, (and everyone else who jumps the gun bearing false witness to this man's hard work), Page 105 states the author's position regarding date-setting saying, "Anyone who claims to know the specific time of Christ's coming is claiming he knows something that the Father didn't even tell the Son while He was on Earth. That is the height of arrogance and folly."
So there. I thought the book was educational and enjoyable. One other reviewer noted that you could garner most of the information yourself from the web. He's right but it takes a lot less time to read Mark's book. So make your own choice. Don't pass this book up because you think Hitchcock is a date-setter. The Internet is alive with information on 2012. But does what you are reading come from a reliable source?
In his book, 2012, the Bible, and the End of the World, Mark Hitchcock chronicles the various views that people are presenting regarding, the magnetic polar reversal scheduled for 2012, and the Mayan 12.21.2012 prophesies, etc. Then he shows you what the Bible teaches about the "last days" on planet earth. I for one want to learn about and believe what the Bible says about these things because, unlike other sources,Scripture has alway predicted future events with 100% accuracy. I'm interest in truth, not fiction. How about you? Buy the book and get yourself and your family prepared for what's ahead!
