 | Wonderful voice, wonderful interpretation Sep 11, 2008 |
I wanted an mp3 format so I could listen on my mp3 player while I walked and exercised. I'd heard Max McLean on the audio version of biblegateway.com on my desktop and loved his voice. The mp3 version makes his voice portable and I can leave my desktop. His interpretation is wonderful. He knows what he's reading. And his voice is not that stilted, basso, fake-o sound. This one is like hearing the Royal Shakespeare Company doing Shakespeare. I understand Max is Panamanian, but his voice sounds like he's from the House of Lords. It's human at the same time, though. It helps that he believes what he's reading and knows how to interpret it. This is lively, meaningful and effortless King James. |

| McLean has a great voice. This a a good reading with no over the top dramatics or silly background music or effects. A must have! |

This is for the Max McLean KJV mp3 Bible.
The best reading of the King James ever. Scourby is the standard, but the audio quality of the master tapes has deteriorated over the years.
Even so, Max McLean has set a new standard. His rendering is not just a reading of the Word, it is an EXPERIENCE of the Word.
The audio quality is excellent, and the volume level is consistent. (The earlier NIV went from very quiet to very loud making it difficult to listen to with headphones or in a car)
Personally, I love the fact that there is NO background music, as I find it distracting. There is a bit of a pause at the end of each chapter. Some car mp3 players cut off the last few seconds of audio, so why ever they did it, it works for me. |
