Reviews - What do our customers think?
 | Some Memorable Images Mar 22, 2007 |
The "Word of God" has had a huge impact on my life, in particular, and on the course of human history in the West in general, naturally. This review is my attempt to register my aversion and annoyance for a very distressing trend by spewing electrons of resentment and protest into the ether. That trend that bothers me so much? America's irrational trend toward what one famous astronomer called a "demon haunted world."
Can anyone have faith in the progress of the human race in light of the number of people who anchor their entire existence on a pack of self-contradictory fictions? You believers who attack religious skeptics for being critical of the current attempt to foist theocracy upon us (by the politicized evangelical right in America) are not inclined to use reason, so there is no point in dialogue. But there are good points to be made in protest. What is most ironic, not most surprising, is the un-Christian lack of charity X-tians display in confronting what the skeptic is saying. But all paradoxes are really only apparent, are they not? That is what you represent: belief in a god that is worse than the devil you also seem to think you need. Some of you should read your folklore more carefully. Do you want to see some God-sanctioned infanticide or some young girls raped to death? Start with Genesis and work your way through Joshua or one of the Samuels if you think this mythology a harmless benevolent spiritualism, the reverence for an all-loving god. What complete nonsense. It won't shock you, I hope, to tell you that many of you are on board with the idea of frying most of us nonbelievers in hell. That's in keeping. Your loving god became so exasperated by a harmless but intransigent fig tree that he felt he needed to curse it and kill it---one example among many of Jesus's so-called love. Sermon on the Mount notwithstanding, Jesus had to have one huge ego, one that needed self-propagandizing (at least in the Pauline version), and one that obviously demanded unquestioning allegiance on par with the feudalistic fealty demanded by Hellenistic monarchs. Of course, the apparent truth of all that depends upon if the literary Jesus actually existed, a figure for whom there is no real evidence to be found in history. The Canonical Christ being a composite story that really points to the history of his brother James, it is unlikely the redacted Gospels have even a shread of truth about the real man. The real Jesus was very likely a zealot who was crucified per the Roman norm for political rebels--the one or possibly two historical references to him suggest he was indeed a political rebel. One reviewer is likely right about Western religion however: religious sentiment today in the face of reason is analogous to the flare-up of a candle just before extinction. Keep that in mind as you close yourself to logic. The world will one day be a better place, the day all dogmatic superstition is relegated to our darkened past. Credo quia absurdum. | | | | Excellent buy Jan 5, 2007 |

| What's to say about the bible: The most important book in the world! But if you're not satisfied with just reading it, and actually want to study what the deepest meanings are: This is the bible of choice! It offers years of offerings from some of the most respected religious leaders of our time and is most impressive with it's vast knowledge base of information that literally makes you a scholar of the word. For anyone wanting more from God's amazing arsenal of scriptural content, look no further! You'll be most pleased! I highly recommend this bible for a gift item to those just learning about the word as well. Either way, it's a great purchase! | | | | The Word of God Aug 23, 2006 |
This King James Study Bible is excellent. There is a lot of history about who wrote each book, an outline at the beginning of each book to help find scripture and a breakdown of scripture when necessary.
I have come back to the Lord and this Bible has helped me greatly in my daily Bible study. It is my opinion that the KJV bible is the true words of the Lord.
I highly recommend this Bible to others seeking the Word of God. | | | Write your own review about KJV King James Study Bible-Black Bond Indexed S/S
