A Rich and Helpful Exposition of Genesis-Deuteronomy Jan 2, 2007
Warren Wiersbe put out 42 paperback books expounding the Bible. The Bible Exposition Commentary series collects all the books in six handsome maroon volumes.
This is one of the best one man homiletical expositions of the Bible that money can buy. Wiersbe explains and applies the text in an easy to understand way. He does a good job of explaining Genesis three, showing how Eve had fallen from God in her mind even before she sampled the forbidden fruit.
Wiersbe also shows how the summaries in Genesis (2:4, 6:9, 10:1, etc) neatly separate the book into sections. He also notes that Genesis 1-11 deals with the world while Genesis 12-50 deals primarily with the nation of Israel.
Wiersbe also explains the Levitical sacrificial system and how it relates to our Christian experience today. This is a great series to read along with as you have your quiet time with God. It is also helpful for preachers who are looking for something helpful to share from the pulpit.
This is the first of six great volumes, and all of them are worth buying.

a great resource Nov 6, 2006
As a Bible college graduate and youth pastor, I could not do without this commentary set. Wiersbe uses everday illustrations and gives a good explanation of the text. However as with many commentators, some difficult passages are skipped. I think the new testament series is just a step above these.
Commentary on the Pentateuch for the layperson Nov 11, 2003
Do you think Bible commentaries are dry and boring and hard to understand? Warren Wiersbe's Commentaries are in-depth and intellectually-stimulating, while being understandable and enjoying to read!
This book is the compilation of Wiersbe's "Be Series" books for the first five books of the Bible. You can find these books individually in paperback - one for each book of the Bible (except for Genesis - there are 3 books for Genesis!). While it is probably easier to carry around one small paperback for the book of the Bible you're studying, you can't beat the price for this book, which includes the complete text of 7 of Wiersbe's commentaries.
This is an invaluable resource for anyone wanting to better understand the Bible. Warren Wiersbe's commentaries read like a letters from a good friend. You will find yourself looking up one passage, but continuing to read because it's so good!
Warren Wiersbe is my favorite commentator, and when I'm confused about a Bible passage, I automatically say to myself, "Let's see what Warren has to say about this one!"
As of this writing, compilation books of Wiersbe's "Be Series" books are available for all the New Testament books (a two-volume set), Old Testament History books, and the Prophets. The only one yet to be publised is "Bible Exposition Commentary: Old Testament Wisdom and Poetry", which will be out in April 2004. Thank you, this site, for allowing us to search for an author's books by publication date, revealing the books not yet published, and the date when they will be available!
